The people demand justice
The murder of Trayvon Martin is a painful and tragic reminder of what America was before the era of President Barack Obama. The murder of Trayvon Martin reminds us of the hate that still exists in America. The murder of Trayvon Martin reminds us that America was born in a pool of hate and racism. The murder of Trayvon Martin compels us to confront that hate and to eradicate that racism. His murder must not be forgotten and we will not rest until his killers are brought to justice.
As President Obama pointed out, Trayvon Martin could have been his son. Trayvon Martin could have been on of my students. This is the tragedy of Trayvon Martin's death. He was denied the chance to grow up and to live as a free African man in the new Obama America. He was denied the chance to live the life of economic and social justice that President Obama is providing.
The attack and murder of Trayvon Martin is an attack on President Obama and an attempt on his life. The attack and murder of Trayvon Martin is an attack on all people of color. Trayvon Martin was murdered because he was a son of Africa. But our president is a son of Africa and know that there will be justice.
We demand justice. There shall be justice.
